“Everything that happens in life…has its own meaning.”

Ah Zheng crossed path with a patient upon one of his trips to the hospital because he had a leg injury. On that person’s dying request, the man asked Ah Zheng to call his mother every year on the day of his memorial and give her courage. It was like looking over her so she would not think the wrong thoughts (i.e. suicide).

At first, he was reluctant to help because he did not know the other man. How could he fulfill such a strange request? What did it have to do with him anyway? However, he followed the man’s wish in the end to avoid the inevitable. Although Ah Zheng might not be leading the most desirable life to others’ point of view, but he has a good heart.

As fate has it, he was the next victim of a similar fatal disease. It was now his turn to seek for someone who could look after his girlfriend, Xiao Yan. It was now his turn to pass on the same message that a dying man once passed to him. Give her a call every year and give her a message – as he instructed through his recording. Not only did he had to pass on his own story, but also the man who’d once entrusted that mission onto him to call the mother.

The phrase “The fact that our voices sound the same is definitely not a coincidence” was like the hallmark of this story. It brought upon a very mystical feeling, making you wonder what was out there.

I really like the directing and storyline in here beause it did not give much details or explain why. But sometimes things just happened. There was no why. It was sudden and tragic but there was also hope. Not too much at all.

I’m not going into acting much since it was such a short story to begin with. However, I must admit the story was very moving. If it was really Van Fan’s voice, he really gave it his all with the emotions. I was not even planning on crying until he was narrating to that ’someone’ with all the instructions.

Part of the touching message:

Thank you, dear strange. If I do not wake up, please tell Xiao Yan:

Tell her I know she has to cry, but she has to eat too to maintain the energy to keep crying.

On the second year, please tell her that, “I’m practicing baseball down here. Hopefully I’ll be better than Babe Ruth in the next life.”

On the third year, please tell her that, “I’m still wearing the sweater. But two sleeves are not even. Tell her that she should practice more.”

On the fourth year, please tell her, ”The person who can eat more than 20 eggs at one time must be deeply in love with you.”

On the fifth year, please tell her, “There’s no Jedi Knight on earth. But he who’s willing to fight with you with Lightsaber all night long… If you met one once, you’ll definitely met another.”

On the sixth year, please tell her that, “It’s dark in the elevator, but somebody’s going to open the door.”

On the seventh year, please tell her that “I’m going back to this world. These things happen. I was gone, but we’ll meet again. Thank you for missing me. But don’t ignore the whole world because you miss me too much.”

I almost forgot about this song. It’s one of the songs that shows a different side of Chen Yi’s style. There will probably be a third album. I hope that he would go back to this style or at least include in his selection with some songs along this line. It’s not that the more upbeat songs aren”t good but this style shows more variety for all fans to choose.

At the end of the MV, you could him speaking up to give us a little message, including his name and the song title. It’s really strange and interesting that his voice is so tough yet he has such a young face. (Okay, that’s just me.)

Good news, Summer’s Bubbles wrapped recently. It’s just a matter of time before it airs. Wonder what kind of role he will portray in that although it might not be much with the role and on-screen time given. Still interesting to see a different character after parting ways with Tangerine artists.

The most interesting thing about this album is that it was so sudden when it released. Well, not really. But for those who weren’t keeping up with the news about him, it was so sudden. Which was also a big surprise when it was #1 on the charts when it was just released for several days.

I really like this album like his other hits. Maybe it might be too boring for some people’s taste but I really enjoy its sutbleness since it did not try too hard to stand out or overdramatize the situation too much. Not to mention that these songs bring out Nicholas’ warm, sad voice really well.

The majority of the songs are very nice, giving you a soothing feeling to it. Although some can be sad but not too much either.

I got the Commemorate Edition, which consists of 11 tracks (like any other versions) and 4 MVs along the behind the scene parts. There also the booklet (with pictures and lyrics) and 10 small, polaroid pictures. Not a bad deal at all.

I think this is a 50/50 chance. I do not mean the rating either. It’s just one of those style that you just really love or really hate. Having only followed since after his last album, Will’s Future, I think I can’t really judge. However, I must say that since I supported his style this long, I really like this one also.

Anyway, I bought the Commemorate Edition. I must say it was really worth it – even if there is no ring in this one. In place of the other extra goodies, this one contains 3 MVs and behind-the-scenes footage, plus an interview of Will.

From the past pattern, it is not a surprise that Will loves food. It’s really interesting though to see different types of food being set out.

My obssession with J-Stars artists began with 183 Club but my actual respect for someone under that agency after having already lost faith with most of the artists – mostly because of their manager – is ironically Tony Sun Xie Zhi. He definitely live up to a senior that is expected of him and is good to all his colleague. (Don’t take my word for it but for the most part, it must be true since words that are mentioned of him in interviews of other J-Star members are mostly positive.)

I must confess that I was turn off by him because of the role he portrayed in Westside Story. It was not his role that made it hard to endure the drama but maybe his relationship with Esther Liu’s character. Maybe it was the weak plot also. However, I started to like him better after listening to some of his songs, especially those Hokkien songs that he sang when he was younger.

His voice is so good that it’s really hard not to like. (However, that is just my take since I love how soothing his voice is.)

The exception of not liking him is being turned off by some of his ‘fans’ who attacks others left and right. (But we shouldn’t hold it against him since he doesn’t know. After all, he’s  too busy in his hard-working effort to bring us great projects to come.)

Because I haven’t watched all of his dramas so I must say that my favorite role of him is actually Duan Yu Qiao from Mr. Fighting. The most surprising part is I love him in there with Esther more than I did in Westside Story – than the other couple. It’s really funny that both dramas are somewhat alike with the whole fighting theme, but I guess because Mr. Fighting was more well crafted that it was not frustrating to watch.

For Westside Story, I actually enjoyed watching his friendship between Wallace Huo’s Xing Wang more than of the romantic relationship. Their friendship was odd with the whole misunderstanding at first and then somehow growing to a more serious one with subtle supportiveness and much more. It was more fun seeing them compete at various points. (I would’ve rooted for the triangle between Ya Yu, Yin He, and Xing Wang more since their characters were better than the other ones in that drama. But I guess it was better not to have Ya Yu and Xing Wang in the same triangle or it would’ve been even more frustrating to watch.)

Anyway, the main point? I honestly miss him a lot in series and actually want an album release also – but a solo one. Having him sing alongside other 5566 members is fine, but it’s totally different when he sings alone. (You just get to hear him more, if you know what I mean!)
